Swift Networks Limited is a facilities-based telecommunications services provider. The company was founded in 2002 when it bided and obtained a Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) License from Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to provide multi-service broadband connectivity services to businesses and residential subscribers.
Since inception, Swift Networks has invested heavily in “next generation” networking technologies to build a multi-service network platform. Swift Networks holds an exclusive wireless spectrum license from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), allowing it to operate an end-to-end reliable, fibre-like connectivity services in the exclusively licensed and interference-free 3.5GHZ spectrum.
In 2005/06, ACA had identified broadband as a sector to focus on. The penetration rate in the country at the time was less than 5% and there was a significant opportunity to be tapped. The managing director of Swift Networks was an experienced entrepreneur who had already built a successful business in a different industry. ACA partnered with him to roll out broadband services first in Lagos with plans for expansion to other key cities. At the time of investment Swift had just over 200 subscribers. By the end of 2012, Swift had 75,000 subscribers and was valued at over $100m.

African Capital Alliance (ACA) took minority stake in MTN Nigeria in 2001.

MTN Nigeria is part of the MTN Group, Africa's leading cellular telecommunications company. On May 16, 2001, MTN became the first GSM network to make a call following the globally lauded Nigerian GSM auction conducted by the Nigerian Communications Commission earlier in the year. Thereafter the company launched full commercial operations beginning with Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.
Since launch in August 2001, MTN has steadily deployed its services across Nigeria. It now provides services in 223 cities and towns, more than 10,000 villages and communities and a growing number of highways across the country, spanning the 36 states of the Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Many of these villages and communities are being connected to the world of telecommunications for the first time ever.
ACA had been tracking the GSM opportunity prior to the award of licenses in 2001 and had partnered with another African regional telecommunications player in an unsuccessful license bid. After the bid, the opportunity arose to take a minority stake in MTN Nigeria, one of the companies that won the GSM license. ACA sponsored a fund, which invested in the opportunity through a vehicle. With key minority protections in place, such as an ACA partner being the Chairman and representation of the minority shareholders on the board, MTN became the most successful investment in the CAPE I portfolio. At the time of CAPE I’s investment MTN was worth $400 million, by the time of the CAPE I exit the company was worth $13 billion.

ABC Transport Plc commenced operation in road passenger transportation on February 13, 1993 as an off-shoot of Rapido Ventures with a view to running a modern road transportation system in Nigeria.
ABC Transport operates luxury bus services according to accepted international standards of road transportation. Its services are specially designed for distinguished travellers who would otherwise use air service.
The operations within and outside Nigeria are carried out in ultra modern terminals, with comfortable lounges in various cities like Lagos (Jibowu & Amuwo-Odofin), Aba, Owerri, Port-Harcourt, Abuja, Enugu, Onitsha, Umuahia, Jos, Mbaise, Bolade, and Accra (Ghana).
ABC buses are dubbed with the company's trademark the Reindeer. The choice of the Reindeer as the company's symbol was made after a careful study of the peculiarities of the animal which is strong, fast and moves in herds.
For the company's remarkable achievement in transportation, ABC Transport was adjudged the Best Transporter in Nigeria by the Chartered Institute of Transport, Nigeria and has since then consistently won the National Bus Operator of the Year Award along with other accolades by renowned bodies.
ACA partnered with ABC Transport, one of the leading providers of luxury transport services in Nigeria. ACA took the view that the road transportation industry in Nigeria in 2003 had significant room for growth, and decided to back ABC’s expansion plans. ABC grew its fleet from 46 buses when CAPE I invested to 135 and pioneered the expansion into the West Coast of Africa. When ACA exited the company, it was worth $51 million; an increase of over tenfold on the $3.5 million value at the time of our investment.
